Yesterday I had to return the Chevy Traverse to its rightful owners..Eskridge Chevrolet in Guthrie. I drove it for the past month and I miss it already. No joke. Seriously miss it.
Here are some things that I liked and disliked about the Traverse, in no particular order: (more…)

Entertainment on Wheels!

I told you all about the USB plug in the Traverse where you can plug in your ipod and pretty well anything that plays music. Here is a video how it works..it’s so easy to use even I was able to figure it out!

We’ve had to make many trips this past year for Ashers treatment. Five trips to Indiana to be exact. Hours of driving and being stuck in a car. Most trips we took involved 4 people. My daughters, Asher and I. Between the four of us 3 own active cellphones, 1 owns a pretend cell phone.
Going on long car trips requires us to keep our phones charged and one thing that annoyed me during our adventures was the constant plugging and unplugging of the cell phone chargers into the outlet because my car only has one. Chevy sure had families like us in mind when they designed the Traverse. So far i’ve found three outlets to plug cell phone chargers in. I think there might be more hidden..it’s like a scavenger hunt. I should read the manual again. Do you realize how much easier our trips would have been if I owned the Traverse at that time? A lot easier.
Something else I am really impressed with is the gas mileage. The Traverse averages 24 mpg on the highway. Looking at how much space this car offers it amazes me for it to be so fuel efficient. This is VERY important to us, specially with the fuel prices nowadays. These trips are not cheap.
The entertainment options are endless. Regular AM/FM radio, XM radio and on top of it all I discovered a USB plugin in the compartment in the dashboard. Can you guess what it’s for? I use it a lot to charge my phone but you can also plug in your Ipod, Itouch etc. I can control the media device with the buttons on the steering wheel! Search playlists, play a song…So tell me Chevy, what have you not thought of? I’m still trying to find that one feature that i’m missing, so far i’ve been unsuccessful. I’m gonna miss this car so much when I have to return it on Wednesday. They always say time flies when you are having fun, I can’t believe it’s been almost a month.
I just had to share this cool feature…

You all know that I’m the grandma of Asher, a young grandma i might add, but there is one thing you don’t know about me. I have a major huge dislike for minivans, I like the roominess of minivans but dislike the overall look of them. I can assure you if you ever run into me you will see me driving some vehicle that looks stylish, goes fast and is just plain cool to drive. I’m not talking sportscars, they are just not reasonable in this household. With the evergrowing family of ours the biggest problem we’ve encountered is having enough room for everyone and everything.
This is one of the major reasons I fell in love as soon as I started test driving the Traverse. It’s a match made in heaven, for us. It looks sleek, it’s roomy, the ride is smoother than my sporty sedan and the gas mileage is just as good as my own car. There are a few huge differences between my “used to be cool” car and the Traverse. The features. Oh my. So many features. (more…)
OnStar-Show me the way!
by Britta Fleeson on 20. Dec, 2010 in Blog, Featured Bloggers, Raves and Reviews
I’m sure you’ve seen commercials about OnStar. I know I have. I’ve never owned a vehicle with OnStar till I had the honor to test drive the Chevy Traverse. Honestly I never thought I would have the need for it. I was wrong. (Don’t tell my hubby, he is under the impression i’m always right, and I want to keep it that way)
I’ve been playing around with the OnStar, the more I play the more I like. Every person i’ve had the pleasure of talking to from OnStar has been super nice. Very friendly and helpful. I asked for directions once giving an address I had to go to. The lady could not get the driving directions to load to the car so she advised me to record her directions. That’s right, you can RECORD it. When she was done I just had to press the playback button and was able to drive where I needed to go with the help of her instructions played back to me. Cool! Chevy Traverse-The Bluetooth Edition!
by Britta Fleeson on 16. Dec, 2010 in Blog, Featured Bloggers, video, videos
I don’t drive and talk on the phone a lot. It distracts me so much, trying to hold the phone while steering. When I do get a call i keep it pretty short or if I don’t think it’s important I just don’t answer. I am not a person that chit chats (unless i’m in the passenger seat) while navigating traffic, but even the important calls are hard to take looking to find the phone, find the button to answer the call and then trying to hold the little thing against your ear.
I will only answer the call of a few people while I’m driving. My daughters, my husband or anyone related to Ashers medical care ( I am listed as an alternate contact if they can’t get hold of my daughter). The Chevy Traverse solved this problem of taking calls with their Bluetooth feature. I synced my phone with the car, now I can make calls and answer calls with a simple push of a button on the steering wheel. The radio mutes, I can hear the other person on the line over the speakers and talk to them without ever having to take my eyes off the road. My hands never leave the steering wheel. So important! Chevy Traverse-When is it my turn?
by Britta Fleeson on 12. Dec, 2010 in Blog, Featured Bloggers, Raves and Reviews
We’ve had our Traverse for a week and a half now and I still get excited when I get in to ride in it. Did you catch that? Ride in it! Oh yeah. Apparently my husband likes it so much he gets in the drivers seat before I can claim that spot. Not nice at all, agree? Please agree with me! : )
It does give me a chance to play with all the features and I get to push all the buttons and read the manual to see what each button does. After all we know how men are about reading manuals. The more I read and push buttons the more I learn about features available in the Traverse. It’s a whole different learning experience, usually followed by me saying: “Hey babe, did you know this button will do this?” (more…)
Grocery Shopping in the Chevy Traverse
by Britta Fleeson on 07. Dec, 2010 in Blog, video, videos
I’m not sure if I’ve mentioned before that I am a huge coupon shopper. Well used to be. This past year has been so busy that it’s been hard to keep up with it all.
Yesterday I decided to take the Chevy Traverse on a shopping trip. I wanted to see how I would like driving it in traffic, parking lots and I wondered how many grocery bags would fit in the car.
One word: AMAZING. As roomy as the Traverse is, it handles corners amazingly well, parking was easy and I had no problems at all in traffic. (more…)
First Impression
by Britta Fleeson on 04. Dec, 2010 in Blog, Featured Bloggers
I was chosen to be part of the Mom’s Time out campaign sponsored by Oklahoma Chevy Team Dealers. Talk about EXCITING! I am so honored to be part of this campaign. Chevy is letting me drive the Traverse for a month, put it thru the ultimate test and wants to hear what I think about it. Oh and I will be testing it alright. I already know what is important to us and we will see how it will match up to our expectations!
We picked up a 2011 Chevy Traverse yesterday. It was love at first sight. My first impression was WOW, i might have been drooling a little while we were shown what all it has to offer. The Traverse is beautiful, inside and out, functional and roomy. Lots and lots of room. I will post about my experiences driving the Traverse, tell you about my favorite features and also include some videos to give you an inside look. (more…)
Meet Britta
by Britta Fleeson on 03. Dec, 2010 in Bio, Blog
My name is Britta Fleeson. I was born and raised in Germany and moved to the States in 1988. I am married, work full time, have two daughters and one grandson named Asher. Asher was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor in October of 2009 at the age of 11 months. I started my blog A prayer for Asher to document his doctor visits and treatments. I love spending time with my family and after this past year we’ve all learned that we can’t take life and loved ones for granted. I also like to participate in fundraisers benefiting local foundations that have helped us this past year and help raise awareness for childhood cancer.
