Saying Goodbye

Well it is Monday morning and I am sad. You see, my Traverse is back with Mark Heitz and I am back in my car. I reached for the keys this morning and thought to myself, “time to get it pre-warmed.” Well, that is not a feature my car currently offers. Then when I got in my seats were cold. Kind of a sad start to this chilly Monday morning. I can honestly say, I miss my Traverse.

Coming into this experience I was an import only kind of girl. I have had domestic cars but they lacked the flash and pizazz that this Traverse offered. I was so stunned to see that FINALLY an American made car had everything I desired! My favorite feature was the ability to pre start the car from the warm confines of my house, all the room inside and then the smooth ride. I was AMAZED at how beautifully this car ran. It was a cloud. Then when I had to haul kids there was no climbing over seats. Plenty of room for everyone and then all of their junk.

During my Traverse journey many friends were interested in peeking inside. They too were amazed at the roominess. Then when I showed them all the features they were fired up. Of course their next question was, “how much?” When I told them the sticker price they were floored. Truly this is a no-brainer if you are in need of a roomy, fully loaded and smooth riding cross over. I am so in love with it I am trying to get my husband to get one to keep in Florida next to the boat! If that is not a glowing endorsement, I do not know what is…..

Thank you again to Chevrolet and Mark Heitz Chevrolet for setting me up in this great Traverse. I had a blast taking it through its various missions. Not to mention, I appreciate all of your help whenever I had a question! Your service is superior and your people were all so kind and willing to help at a drop of a hat! Your dealership is one of a kind!

One Rockin Momma

Ok…I am here again to say that I am in complete awe of technology. Can you believe how far we have come in the last 40 years? I was born in the 70′s and I can remember the 8 track era, cassette players, cd’s and now the digital revolution of mp3.

Needless to say the biggest change has been in how our cars can handle this constant change. I remember the day of having to put in new stereos into a car dash. Not anymore. New cars are coming with better and better technology to handle all of our tune needs.

As if you had not noticed, I have been driving a Chevy Traverse for the last month. It has been my mission to check it out from bumper to bumper and give my honest opinion. Well, this time it was to figure out how to play some of my rockin tunes using an mp3. It is a piece of cake! I plugged in my iPhone and it immediately picked it up and I was rock a star mommy in moments. My kids got to really see what I love to listen to. You see, I may be almost 40 but this momma is a metal head! I love me some Metallica, Aerosmith, Ozzy, and Linkin Park. Since this is so easy to use, I encourage everyone to plug in and rip the knob off!! Rock on!

Wishing

I am in South Florida enjoying a warm and blessed holiday with my family! The only sad part to this awesome vacation is that I really miss the Traverse!

All of its features, storage and driving ease are all missing from my current ride. In fact, my husband even said he missed the Traverse! That is the ultimate compliment. You see, he loves imports and just the thought he would like this Chevy has blown my mind.

So, with all of this said, I can’t wait to get home and drive my baby a few more days before it has to go back to Mark Heitz. This whole experience has really made me look at Chevy’s a whole lot different!

Ps..have I mentioned that it has the warmest seats ever. When I get out I have the warmest tush in town!

Pedi Please

Oh my goodness….I just looked down at my feet in the shower and just about fell over. Are those really mine? Didn’t I just get a pedicure last week? Then I stop for a moment and think back. No, I think the last time my piggies got a buffed and polished might have been before Thanksgiving….Oh my….that explains the reason they look as if they might be more comfortable on the foot of a horse.

As my day goes on, I am thinking of my sweet feet and how nice a pedicure sounds but frankly carving some time in my day during this so busy season seems a little bit nuts. Now, comes the best part….I remember the words of my oh so sweet sales guy at Mark Heitz. He told me to press the ONSTAR button and they could direct me anywhere. This seemed like a message from above so I pressed that magic button and proceeded to get directions to the CLOSEST nail salon to my house. I loved this feature.!! She was so nice and even offered to download driving directions straight to my Traverse! Now is that service or what??

This mama is going to STOP and take care of herself right now! I promise my feet will be so much happier and might even feel like taking me around without complain for the rest of this holiday week. Sounds like a perfect deal to me!

Cellphones and Cars

This week as I have been dashing from spot to spot, I paused for a moment and thought to myself, What in the world did we do before cell phones? How did families function? How did business’s get things done? I am sometimes amazed at all of the technology we have available to us.Cell phones sure make my life so much easier. To know that if my husband calls to tell me something is leaking, that I can that moment pickup my phone and call the plumber is such a relief! I am able to micro manage my life right from the comforts of my car.

One of my favorite things this month is that I have gotten the privilege to drive the Chevy Traverse. One of the best features of this car is that it is LOADED with technology. Chevy has really done a super job of making us safer with our phones. You see, they have made it where we never have to fumble in a panic for our phones while trying to drive. It is all done from the dash and steering wheel of your car. Now is that nifty or what? Thank you so much Chevy! You have now made my December so much more efficient and goodness knows that is a mothers best gift ever.

Traverse Fun

Today I was so lucky to be invited to the 405moms appreciation luncheon at Nonna’s in Bricktown! The only catch was that just when I thought I would have a leisurely morning I was thrown into CRAZY MOM mode. I truly believe that every single mother experiences that day when it truly has a mind of its own. No matter what you need to get accomplished, Father Time has his own agenda!

Well thank goodness for my ride. This little honey just goes goes goes. It was a pizza delivery vehicle, stocking stuffer transport, secret Santa’s helper, school sweatshirt deliverer, and then last but not least….it was a taxi! My traverse just goes and goes with tons of room! The other thing I fell in love with is the Blue tooth phone system. I just ask it to call a contact and it does! Then I press a button on the steering wheel and it disconnects. Now you cannot beat that with a stick. The only down side is that people passing me think I am talking to myself. But oh well! I will take that convenience any day!

Just a little car update…I promise this weekend I will be sending a video for you to see me knee deep in mission control!

Caytie loves a Chevy

I just had to share this video with everyone…Minutes after getting my new Traverse I went to pickup my daughter, Caytie at school. Her reaction is priceless…http://www.vimeo.com/17507505

You have to love the child’s perspective on things. She is so bubbly and dramatic…thank goodness she loved it..or goodness knows what she might have said.

We have driven this beauty all weekend. My hubby keeps commenting over and over again about how roomy it feels. My neighbors came by to take a look and they said the same thing. So nice to see that car companies are listening to the needs and wants of families! I love driving it so far. It is truly surpassing all of my expectations. This week is a true test…a week of driving kids here and there and everywhere. So the Chevy Traverse and I are going to get to know each other REAL WELL!

Wow!!!

All I can say after 24 hours of having the Traverse is wow…It has been quite a whirlwind. I had the awesome opportunity to visit my local Chevy dealership and it just happens to be the mac daddy of them all…Mark Heitz in Norman, Oklahoma. Needless to say the structure alone is impressive but then you go inside. Everyone was so so kind and extra helpful! I got a fantastic tour of the place. It has a waterfall with a see through wall with fish native to Oklahoma, a kids arcade plus a indoor and outdoor playground. All of this before they showed me the Traverse. So they had me pretty much at playground. Then came the moment of truth!!

This Chevy Traverse is one dandy of an automobile. I have to be honest and say that I was a bit skeptical because I drive another brand of crossover and truly thought that this American made car would suffer in comparison. Boy was I WRONG! This is one heck of a great car. It is quick, has all the bells and whistles, bucket seats in the second row, 3rd row seats, sunroof for those in the back seat. The options are endless. Truly and I am loving driving this car! My husband even commented that he could not believe how “roomie” it is inside! Much larger than my car I drive now! This is so much fun learning about all of the features and I promise to keep everyone involved!

In fact, in the next couple of days, I will post my 1st hours in the car video. Got to love all of the reactions….

Meet Caryn

My name is Caryn Ross and I am blessed to be married to my best friend, Jack. We have been married for 18 years and have two great kids, our son Jack and our daughter Caytie. I grew up in Bartlesville, OK then attended the University of Oklahoma in Norman. Our family lives in Norman but spends as much time as possible in Florida on our boat.

My day to day life is spent working on new recipes and managing our kid’s busy schedules. I enjoy nothing more than to spend my days cooking food for family and friends. Feeding people is loving people. The joy I find in cooking for others is what ultimately gave me the courage to enter Paula Deen’s cooking contest.

I was selected as a finalist in Paula Deen’s contest out of almost 8000 video entries. Once selected as a finalist, I went to Savannah, GA to compete in the Appetizer category. In June 2010, my life took the fast-track when I was chosen as one of Paula Deen’s Real Women of Philadelphia for my Philadelphia cream cheese appetizer recipe, Sassy Tailgate Sandwiches. Since then I have been the appetizer host on Kraft’s http://realwomenofphiladelphia.com website and filmed various advertisements and cooking segments for Kraft foods. Last month I traveled to New York where I appeared on the Rachael Ray show. Next month I will be doing a live demonstration in Rockefeller Center for Kraft at the Real Simple Pop Up Shop. I have also been featured on our local CBS affiliate preparing various recipes and am a featured blogger on http://405moms.com.

When I am not busy with all of the cooking I enjoy developing my site http://fatandsassymama.com where readers can download my recipes and get a ton of fun cooking tips.
